Lisa Harrison is a lifelong Putnam County WV resident. Her and husband raise their three kids in Red House WV.
Her hobby of art turned business in 2016. Lisa had been a graphite artist for many years. In February of that year, she painted her mom a rooster in acrylics. Posting it to her Facebook page, Pencils & Pastels, she received such great feedback. As a result, she started taking orders. Order after order came in for these roosters until people started requesting other subjects. Her small business was growing quickly as well as her style and the types of mediums she would work in.
Lisa went from only working in graphite to working in acrylics, pastels, watercolor, colored pencils, and oil pastels within a year. As a result, she changed her name to the Doodlin’ Roo. She has added many mediums, subjects, and services to her business over the years. Today Lisa Harrison, The Doodlin’ Roo, will paint “anything you call baby.” In other words, people, pets, cars, just about anything really. She offers private lessons, art camps, paint with me events, and face painting. She will also set up and paint your event live. This could be weddings, retirement parties, corporate events, and reunions. Lisa was juried in 2021 and is now a Tamarack Artist.
In 2020 the pandemic gave rise to the idea of flower farming. She soon realized this was actually something people did and she dove in headfirst once again. Lisa is now growing flowers to sale to florists, wedding venues, and to use as her home grown art supplies. Her artist goal is just to create happiness.
